It has thus been a special day for the Merengues who have spent the morning on the streets of Madrid with the fans who have supported them through the long and painful season.

Speaking at the Real Casa de Correos during Real Madrid’s title celebrations earlier today, club president Florentino Perez expressed gratitude to the President of the community of Madrid for the arrangements of the title celebrations and praised his men for an unbelievable season.

As revealed by MARCA, he first presented the team’s latest La Liga title, the 36th in Real Madrid’s history, saying,

“I want to thank the president of the Community for welcoming us with so much affection. Here is Laliga number 36, a very special League because we have conquered it with the values of our shield,” he said.

“Everything we have achieved in these 122 years we have achieved with humility, respect, solidarity and fair play. It is very difficult to overcome the adversities we have suffered this season and this team has risen from the worst in soccer, which are injuries,” he added, heaping praise on the players.

The president specifically pointed out Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba and Eder Militao, all of whom have endured serious injuries but have still contributed to the success.

“Here are Militao, Courtois and Alaba, who have been an example of overcoming. This team has overcome a situation that seemed irreversible.”

Emphasising the spirit of Real Madrid, Perez then insisted that the team was far from satisfied and that they were still hungry for more titles despite the adversities.

“I am convinced that the suffering of the staff has been a reason for improvement and pride. This team is hungry for triumphs and victories despite everything they have won.”

On Carlo Ancelotti, who has overseen the team’s historic season, he said,

“He is already one of the greatest coaches in all history.”

Finally, the club president gave his word to the President of the community of Madrid that his team would leave no stone unturned in bringing home the UEFA Champions League from Wembley.

“Real Madrid is like that, represented by fans who support the team through thick and thin] and history forces us to continue winning and this week we have seen another night that makes our legend huge.”

“Let no one doubt that this team is going to leave its soul to return with the Fifteenth,” he concluded.

Real Madrid are slated to take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final on June 1.
