Toni Kroos retired at the end of the 2023/24 season - now Luka Modrić ended his chapter at Real Madrid. Who could become Los Blancos' next midfield maestro? It could potentially be someone from the Bundesliga, as per “MARCA”: Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller!
The Spanish news outlet have reported about Real Madrid's heavy interest in the 24-year-old midfielder. According to them, Toni Kroos has even recommended Stiller to his former club!
Stiller has been a transfer target for many teams ever since his meteoric rise with Stuttgart in the 2023/24 season. While the most recent year hasn't been quite as dominant from Stuttgart, they went from 2nd to 9th in the league, it proved they are able to win trophies (in the form of the DFB-Pokal) - Stiller definetly has that winner mentality!
The similarities between Kroos and Stiller are very obvious in the way they are playing, but it doesn't stop there: both players spent time at Bayern, where they were not fully appreciated - and Kroos was 24 years old (Stiller's current age) when he joined Real Madrid from the German team!
Xabi Alonso has been very interested in Stiller during his time at Bayer Leverkusen. The Spaniard was able to turn Granit Xhaka and Robert Andrich into two of the best midfielders in the whole league!
DFB coach Julian Nagelsmann has named Angelo Stiller as a possible successor of Toni Kroos in the national team after the EUROS in 2024. We could now be seeing him becoming Kroos' successor at Real Madrid as well.
