In a recent report, Mundo Deportivo revealed that Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio is on the radar of AC Milan. It is understood that the Italian giants are hoping to sign the Spanish talent from Los Blancos when he becomes a free agent this summer.

Asensio’s Up And Down Season In La Liga

Asensio is having a campaign of mixed emotions at the Madrid club as he has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s first XI. Still, the Spaniard deserves a lot of credit for scoring seven goals and picking up five assists in 34 matches for Real Madrid this season in all competitions.

The 27-year-old has made most of his league appearances off the bench but has done well to average 1.5 shots, 0.9 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 90% in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).

His current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is set to expire at the end of this campaign. Hence, Ancelotti will be powerless to stop him from leaving unless he can somehow convince the player to pen a new contract.

What Should Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Do With Regards To Marco Asensio?

Asensio can shoot the ball with venom and accuracy from long range and remains a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. He has also got the vision to orchestrate a few promising chances for his teammates on the attacking third of the pitch.

The Spanish sensation mainly functions as a right-winger but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player or play as a centre-forward up top if told to do so.

Asensio remains an important member of Carlo Ancelotti’s match-day squad. However, he has struggled to earn regular playing starts for Real Madrid this season. Thus, it is only fair to the player for Los Blancos to allow him to leave when his contract runs out in the summer.
