Real Madrid Castilla’s Nico Paz was knocking on the doors of the first team for a long time before moving to Como in August.

The move eventually came to fruition for a €6 million fee as the player saw the competition very severe in the Spanish capital.

Earlier this week, the 20-year-old midfielder made his debut for the Argentine national team and even won praise from Lionel Messi for his performance on the night.

“It’s crazy and beyond his age. He is a player who has an impressive head, that’s why he is where he is,” the talisman said about the youngster.

Real Madrid are alert

Now, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are very happy with Paz’s performances and growth at Como and are monitoring him at both the club and country level.

Los Blancos have control of his future despite selling him as they retained 50% of his rights and even have a buyback clause until 2027. Further, they reserve the right of first refusal if the player is linked with any other club.

The journalist also furthers that the Argentine prodigy also keeps the club close to his heart and would be open to a return, thus improving Real Madrid’s chances if they opt to pursue his signing.

So far this season, Paz has made six appearances and four starts in Serie A, providing two assists in the process and creating five big chances.

Working under the tutelage of Cesc Fabregas, he is in the right place to hone his skills and improve his quality in the middle of the park.

Real Madrid could look to exercise their clause on the youngster, especially given that Dani Ceballos is expected to leave and Luka Modric is at the tail end of his career.
