Real Madrid have been rocked by a slew of injuries this season, which has put pressure on the club to enter the market in the upcoming January transfer window.
Especially in the goalscoring department, the injury of Vinicius Jr. means Carlo Ancelotti has only three options at his disposal, including Joselu and Brahim Diaz.
There is a lot of excitement over the arrival of Endrick, but the Brazilian will not come to the Spanish capital before the summer of 2024 and as things stand, Real Madrid could use a backup, striker at least for the second half of the season.
The Spanish giants have been recently linked with a move for Santos whizkid Marcos Leonardo, with reports suggesting that they could make a move as early as January.
However, in a recent update, Fabrizio Romano (h/t RM4Arab) has poured water over recent speculations linking Real Madrid with a move for Leonardo.

The reliable Italian journalist suggests that Real Madrid have no such intention to sign a player with a profile similar to Leonardo’s.
As such, the Spanish giants are presumably not considering any move for the Santos whizkid, who has racked up 13 goals in the Brazilian top flight this year, and is believed to be valued at €20 million.
One of the main reasons why Real Madrid may not consider a move for Leonardo is the impending arrival of Endrick.
Everything suggests that the Palmeiras’ whizkid is quite similar to Leonardo, in terms of playing style. Real Madrid, therefore, prefer waiting for the arrival of Endrick in the summer of 2024, Romano adds.
Endrick, for his part, has generated a lot of excitement, thanks to an excellent season in the Brazil, coupled with his debut for the national team last month.
