Real Madrid are reportedly ‘not in contact’ with Bayern Munich defender David Alaba despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future.

Alaba’s current deal expires next summer and renewal talks have proven unsuccessful, with both parties still apart on wage expectations.

According to Sport1, claims that Madrid were in touch with his representatives are wide of the mark, with no concrete interest emerging from any club.

Bayern officials announced in October that Alaba would be leaving the club in 2021, with the 28-year-old later admitting he had been left “disappointed and hurt” by their conduct.

But head coach Hansi Flick quickly responded, insisting that no decision had been finalised and he would be “happy” if the Austrian stays in Bavaria beyond this season.

Madrid have identified Alaba as a potential replacement for talisman Sergio Ramos whose contract also expires next summer – with no renewal in place yet.
