Real Madrid confirmed earlier today that key midfielder Dani Ceballos has been sidelined with a semimembranosus muscle injury with tendon involvement in his left leg.
The 28-year-old midfielder suffered the injury during the Merengues’ Copa del Rey semi-final first-leg clash against Real Sociedad on Wednesday night, which they won 1-0.
The injury comes at the most inopportune moment for Ceballos given that he had become a first-team regular for Carlo Ancelotti in recent weeks, establishing himself ahead of the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric, and Arda Guler in the pecking order.
Following the news, Ceballos took to social media to share his thoughts on this latest injury setback he has suffered.
“Very sad not to be able to help my team in this important part of the season. And very sad that I had to stop at what I felt was my best moment…,” started the Spanish midfielder.
Despite the frustration, Ceballos remained determined, as he added: “But football is like that, it’s not always easy, and even less fair. So I have to face it with strength, with the desire to fight and with the certainty that I will come back even stronger.”
Concluding, the midfielder wrote: “This isn’t over. I have come out of worse. Thank you for all your love… See you soon, sooner than you think. HALA MADRID!”
