Real Madrid midfielder will not move to Galatasaray in the summer | OneFootball

Given how sparingly he has been used this season, Real Madrid legend Luka Modric appears to be on his way out of the club in the summer.

The 38-year-old Croatian international has found his minutes increasingly reduced over the course of the season.

And with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, a departure appears to be on the cards for the veteran superstar is believed to have turned down an offer from Carlo Ancelotti to join his coaching staff.

No move to Galatasaray

Amidst the talk of Modric’s future, there have been some speculations linking him with a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

However, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany has come out and quashed those rumours, claiming that there is nothing between Modric and Galatasaray and that the Real Madrid icon will not be joining them in the summer.

Galatasaray have been signing big-name players of late, having added stars like Hakim Ziyech, Mauro Icardi, and Wilfried Zaha, among others, in recent transfer windows.

And Modric would make for a top addition for the Turkish giants. However, as clarified by Plettenberg, there is nothing to the rumours linking the Croatian legend to Galatasaray and there will be no transfer.

Croatia, MLS, or Saudi for Modric

With a departure likely, Modric has been attracting interest from his homeland Croatia, where former club Dinamo Zagreb are interested. Clubs in the MLS and Saudi Arabia have also shown keenness to sign the legendary Real Madrid man.

Only time will tell where Modric will end up in the summer or if he opts to continue at the Santiago Bernabeu for another year. For now, a move to Galatasaray is off the table.
