Dani Ceballos will soon meet with the team to decide whether he will remain with the club or leave, as per a report published on The Daily Briefing.

Ceballos has been linked to a potential transfer to Atletico Madrid recently, with rumours suggesting the two sides may have an agreement for him to switch teams within the Spanish capital.

However, Atletico have denied these rumours, though they do have an interest in the player.

According to the journalist, the speculation around Ceballos and Atletico goes back to the previous season. Before Ceballos extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2027, Atletico expressed interest in him.

An exit seems fair for Ceballos

It is suggested that so far this season, Atletico Madrid have not pursued him actively. However, Ceballos’ future might still change depending on an upcoming discussion with Real Madrid, which will determine whether he stays next season.

This season, he has struggled for game time, playing just 571 minutes across five starts.

Last year, coach Carlo Ancelotti described him as the closest player they had to Luka Modric, but his opportunities have been limited this time, even as Modric himself has spent a significant amount of time on the bench.

Real Madrid want €10 million for Ceballos

As reported before, the Spanish midfielder does not have a shortage of suitors, as apart from Atletico Madrid, even Italian side AC Milan are interested in his acquisition.

It must be noted that Real Madrid and AC Milan have a strong working relationship, having completed several deals in the past, such as those for Theo Hernandez and Brahim Diaz.

However, their approaches to a potential transfer involving Ceballos differ significantly.

Milan are interested in acquiring him on a loan basis, aiming to reinforce their midfield for the season without a long-term commitment. In contrast, Real Madrid would like to sell Ceballos outright, preferring a permanent transfer.

Real Madrid’s goal is to recoup at least €10 million from Ceballos’s departure, making a full sale more appealing to the club.

This difference in intentions could present a challenge in reaching an agreement, as both clubs have distinct goals in mind for the transfer.
