Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni finally opened his goalscoring account after he found himself on the scoresheet during the recent 3-0 win over Girona.
The 23-year-old was jokingly mocked by his teammate Lucas Vazquez, who commented on the midfielder’s social media post, saying, “After 58 games, congratulations.”
The message was rightly intended in a playful manner, which not only showcased Vazquez’s affection towards the Frenchman but also showed the reputation Tchouameni holds in the dressing room.
This season, Tchouameni has been in the starting lineup for eight out of nine games, mirroring his performance at the same stage last campaign. Last year, though, as he returned from the FIFA World Cup, he was displaced from the midfield, as Ancelotti opted for the seasoned duo of Luka Modric and Kroos instead.
The idea to sign Tchouameni when Madrid paid €80 million to Monaco was to see him replace the outgoing Casemiro.
And for that, Tchouameni’s immense value to the club is widely recognized, reports The Athletic.
After all, he stands out as a player who prioritized Real Madrid over financial gains, earning him the title of a “phenomenon” and a leader among the emerging generation of players on the team.
Despite significant interest from Premier League teams during the summer transfer window, even after a somewhat inconsistent debut season, the club’s stance remained resolute: Tchouameni is not available for sale.

Inside the dressing room, Tchouameni has garnered the admiration and respect of all his teammates, who consistently praise his attitude.
He does not rely on being outgoing, as everyone recognizes that Tchouameni possesses something truly exceptional. He is fluent in Spanish, a skill he acquired from his mother, who happens to be a language teacher.
As far as his game is concerned, he demonstrated his exceptional abilities on the field against Girona. He successfully completed 46 passes out of 50 attempts. However, his true brilliance shone in his off-the-ball contributions.
Positioned between the central defenders, Nacho and Antonio Rudiger, he played a pivotal role in supporting Camavinga’s efforts on the left flank.
He also stood out in disrupting Girona’s transitions, making seven recoveries and winning three tackles, effectively thwarting their advances.
At 23, the Frenchman practically has his entire career ahead of him and Real Madrid see him as a key part of the plan for the present and the future.
