Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is delighted working again with coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian's first spell at the club came early in the Croatian midfielder's time in the Spanish capital, but the player is delighted to have seen the man who delivered 'La Decima' return.

"I'm very happy to see the coach again after a few years," Modric said during pre-season.

"It's a great joy. He's a great coach who had a lot of success in his first spell and I hope there will be even more this time."

The 2021/22 season will be Modric's 10th as a Real Madrid player, but the novelty of playing for the club hasn't worn off on the Croatian.

"I'm still very excited, almost as much as I was on my first day," Modric said. "I'm happy to see my teammates again and I'm eager to work, prepare and to help the team to do well."

Modric was one of the later returnees after his participation at Euro 2020, but he's happy to be back to work after a relatively short break.

"The first sessions were good," Modric said.

"I'm happy to be back. I've come back with a lot of enthusiasm and I want to work to do well this season."
