In the coming years, it is expected that Carlo Ancelotti will walk away from football. His contract at Real Madrid expires in 2026, although there is a chance that he leaves before this date – if so, he would be announcing his retirement, as he has no plans to take another managerial job elsewhere.

Ancelotti has spoken to France Football (via Marca) about the subject, and he admitted that it is something that he has been actively thinking about.

“I imagine it, yes. I started in football 48 years ago. So, I start thinking about the day this might end. What could make me say stop? I would say that I would stop if Real Madrid fired me, but other than that, I don’t know what would make me stop. My wife wants me to continue. What I am sure of is that the day I retire will be a fantastic day.

“I have a lot of things to do and see. I would like to go to Argentina, Maldives, Australia, for example, I want to travel. I have five children, my son here. Maybe I could work under him as a coach. I’ll follow him and pester him: ‘What are you doing?’ The day I stop managing will not be sad.”

Ancelotti also reveals the objectives that he wants to achieve before he ends his time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Before stopping, I would like to win a new Champions League. And then another. Every coach wants to get to the top. But coaching Real Madrid is really… This club is special, it is the best in the world, because of its history, its atmosphere, its atmosphere, its fans. And so, the goal was to one day be in that place. And then there is Milan, the best club to study football. I had the opportunity to coach them both.”
