Nico Paz has been making waves in European football since leaving Real Madrid in the summer transfer window of 2024.
The 20-year-old player, currently with Como under Cesc Fabregas, has become a key player for the Italian minnows, helping them steer clear of the relegation zone following their promotion to Serie A.
Paz’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed at Real Madrid. Manager Carlo Ancelotti, in a recent interview, expressed admiration and affection for the player.
Although he had given the 20-year-old attacking midfielder his debut across all competitions, Ancelotti believed the young player lacked the experience that he is now gaining in Serie A. As such, the manager has left the doors open for a future return.
And now, MARCA reports that Real Madrid still retain control over the future of the Argentine international.
In the case of Nico Paz, the Madrid club secured a buy-back option and a 50% share of any future sale made by Como.

According to the terms of the transfer agreement reached last August, Real Madrid will have the option to buy Paz back during the next three summers.
As such, Real Madrid are closely monitoring Paz’s performances in every match. The decision on whether to bring him back or not will come in due time, as will the question of whether to pay the €9 million required for his return, a figure that increases by €1 million each year.
At Valdebebas, the strategy of maintaining control over players who leave the academy is a core principle. Real Madrid can, at any moment, exercise their rights, use clauses to negotiate, or simply activate the pre-agreed terms – as was the case with Fran Garcia.
Now, with Nico Paz’s excellent performances and decisive goals as an attacking midfielder at Como, Real Madrid find themselves in a strong position.
Whatever happens, one thing is clear: Real Madrid maintain control over the Argentine, and in the coming months, the club will decide whether to bring him back or allow him to continue his development under Fabregas.
