Real Madrid are facing a significant defensive challenge following Dani Carvajal’s devastating injury during their win over Villarreal.

The Spanish international, who tore his cruciate ligament, internal collateral ligament, and popliteal tendon, will miss the rest of the season.

While the club retains full confidence in Lucas Vazquez to step up as the starting right-back, as he has done successfully in the past, there is increasing speculation about potential alternatives within the youth academy.

Real Madrid looking at Jesus Fortea

According to a report from June Lavin, one name standing out is 17-year-old Jesus Fortea.

Since joining Real Madrid’s La Fabrica from Atlético Madrid in 2022, Fortea has been regarded as one of the most promising young full-backs in the country.

The club broke its non-aggression pact with Atletico to sign the talented right-back, underscoring their belief in his potential.

At 17, Fortea has already become a key player for Alvaro Arbeloa’s Juvenil A side this season, demonstrating his attacking prowess with goals, assists, and consistent performances on the right flank.

What does he bring to the table?

Known for his verticality, speed, and ability to contribute in the final third, Fortea has caught the attention of the coaching staff.

His offensive instincts, showcased through three penalties won, a goal, and an assist early this season, have made him a standout in the youth ranks.

However, there is room for improvement on the defensive end, where his eagerness to attack sometimes leaves him vulnerable in retreats.

While it may be premature to expect Ancelotti to promote Fortea immediately, his name is one to watch as the club evaluates its options.

With Eder Militao also capable of filling in at right-back, Fortea remains a valuable long-term prospect for Real Madrid’s defence.
