Eder Militao is currently living the worst of the sport and is experiencing something no footballer would ever wish to go through.

After just recovering from an ACL tear in his left knee, he went down injured five weeks ago with a similar blow to his right knee and is ruled off for the entire season after undergoing surgery.

Having tread a similar path just a year ago, Militao has not allowed the setback to break his confidence and is already working optimistically looking for the light at the end of the tunnel.

An update on his recovery

As revealed by SPORT in a recent update, the player’s recovery is going well and he is even posting regular updates on his recuperation on his social media.

In the images uploaded by Militao, he can be seen performing light physical work in what is the first milestone in his recovery.

The club and management will hope to have Militao back in action for the opening phase of next season but face a tall task until then given the relatively low squad depth at centre-back.

Antonio Rudiger continues to be the team’s backbone in defence and is leading from the front. Partnering him have been Raul Asencio and Aurelien Tchouameni of whom the coach prefers the latter despite the academy starlet’s impressive displays.

David Alaba, meanwhile, is nearing a complete return from his ACL setback and the club aim to have him back in January.

Needless to say, there will be serious caution so as to avoid what happened in the Austrian star’s case with Militao as well.
