The race to sign Jude Bellingham is seemingly hotting up as the midfielder continues to mesmerise onlookers with his performances at the highest level of football.

The Borussia Dortmund starlet most recently starred in England’s opening game in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, scoring the opener in a 6-2 victory over Iran. He was hailed as one of the top performers of the game.

Bellingham’s blazing performances for club and country have catapulted him into becoming one of the hottest prospects in the market, with Real Madrid and other major clubs across Europe keen on securing his services at the end of the season.

According to a recent report from Matt Law (h/t Madrid Zone), Real Madrid, along with Liverpool, are on the driver’s seat in the race to sign Bellingham. But Chelsea have also entered the race for the 19-year-old, while Manchester City are also in the running.

Real Madrid, for their part, have likely identified the former Birmingham City starlet as a potential long-term replacement for Luka Modric, whose contract at Santiago Bernabeu expires at the end of the season.

Bellingham, to that end, could prove to be a smart long-term investment for the club. The Englishman may even build a formidable partnership with other big-money midfield investments such as Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Borussia Dortmund, though, are not going to make it easy for Los Blancos or for any other interested party in their quest to sign Bellingham.

Although the German giants are preparing for his exit, they are expected to hold out for a fortune for the services of the Englishman, especially with interest in his services growing with each passing day.

The teenage whizkid was indeed valued at around €100 million before the start of the World Cup. But it appears he could end up with a valuation closer to €150 million by the end of the tournament.
