UEFA have launched an investigation into four Real Madrid players
Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr are among four Real Madrid players at risk of being banned for their Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal after UEFA launched an investigation into their alleged “indecent conduct”.
UEFA have appointed an Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector to investigate allegations of indecent conduct by Mbappe and Vinicius Jr - and their team-mates Antonio Rudiger and Dani Ceballos - during the second leg of Real Madrid’s Champions League last-16 tie with Atletico Madrid on March 12.
UEFA are believed to be looking at how the four players celebrated at the end of the match at the Wanda Metropolitano, which Real Madrid won on penalties.
If charged and found guilty, the players could be punished with a ban or fine.
Arsenal and Real Madrid are due to meet in the first leg of their quarter-final on April 8 at Emirates Stadium, with the second leg the following week at the Bernabeu.
Among the alleged incidents being looked at by UEFA is Rudiger appearing to make a throat-slitting gesture towards the Atletico fans.

Video clips doing the rounds on social media also appear to show Mbappe grabbing his crotch during celebrations.
Jude Bellingham was fined €30,000 at Euro 2024 last summer and given a one-match suspended ban for his crotch-grabbing gesture.
The midfielder grabbed his crotch after scoring a late equaliser during England’s 2-1 win over Slovakia in their last-16 match.
In 2019, Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone was fined €20,000 for a similar celebration against Juventus in the Champions League.
The Argentine turned towards fans and grabbed his crotch after Jose Maria Gimenez scored the first goal in a 2-0 win.
It is unclear what punishment Real Madrid’s four players could get or even if the investigation will be resolved before the game against Arsenal.
A statement from UEFA read: “A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has been appointed to investigate allegations of indecent conduct by Real Madrid CF players (Antonio Rüdiger, Kylian Mbappé, Daniel Ceballos Fernández and Vinicius Junior) during the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match between Club Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid CF on 12 March 2025.
“Further information regarding this matter will be made available in due course.”
