Carlo Ancelotti’s second tenure at Real Madrid has been a fairytale, and the ongoing season has only seen his charm at the club continue.

Already crowned champions of Spain, Los Blancos are also one step away from being named the champions of Europe. Only 90 minutes against Borussia Dortmund next month stand between them and the pinnacle of European football.

One of the pioneering forces of Ancelotti’s team, needless to say, is his brother Davide Ancelotti. Heading into next season, however, there is doubt whether the manager’s son will continue at the club.

The next step

As revealed by Santi Aouna, Davide Ancelotti is on the radar of Stade de Reims to take over as their new manager for next season.

The Ligue 1 side have several names on their shortlist including Luka Elsner, Joël Magnin, João Sacramento and Miron Muslic alongside the Real Madrid assistant coach.

Reims finished the French league in ninth place this season with 47 points in 34 games and were just four points away from Europe. Their coach, Will Still, left the club by mutual consent on 2nd May just before the end of the season, beginning the team’s hunt for a successor.

Having assisted Carlo Ancelotti’s project for years, Davide is now ready to take on a bigger responsibility and he could thus opt to leave the club this summer and venture into new pastures.

A pioneering force

Real Madrid were on the cusp of elimination in the UEFA Champions League during the second leg of the clash against Bayern Munich.

Alphonso Davies’ goal placed the Bavarians in the driver’s seat, and Los Blancos were in dire need of inspiration.

At such a juncture, Carlo Ancelotti turned to his son for advice, and Davide promptly asked Joselu to warm up and advocated for his introduction.

The rest is history, as the Spaniard came on and scored a game-changing brace to send his team to the finale.

The recent story is only one of the numerous instances when Davide made a direct impact on Real Madrid’s result and it is clear that his combination with his father is second to none. It remains to be seen how a potential departure will affect Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.
