Real Madrid have enjoyed a blistering start to the new season, with four wins on the trot.

Much of the credit should be given to the club’s strong midfield, which has managed to bring in productivity following the departure of Karim Benzema.

In light of the midfield’s success, Real Madrid are prepared to further strengthen their ranks in the middle of the park, sometime in the future.

Real Madrid keep tabs on Bruno Guimaraes

According to Telegraph, Real Madrid are closely monitoring the development of Bruno Guimaraes.

The Newcastle United star has enjoyed immense success at St. James’ Park since joining the club at the start of last year.

The Brazilian has emerged as the engine of the Magpies’ midfield, featuring in 61 competitive matches while racking up 10 goals and six assists.

Real Madrid’s desire to sign Guimaraes is hardly surprising as the club keep an eye on the fact that both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric will not be a part of the team for much longer.

Newcastle ready to offer a bumper contract

Newcastle, though, are prepared to fend off the interest from Real Madrid, by making him one of the top earners at St. James’ Park.

Guimaraes’ current contract at St. James’ Park expires in 2026, but backed by a star investor, Newcastle United have access to the funds, as they look to keep hold of the midfielder.

However, the report suggests Guimaraes could be tempted by a move to Spain at some stage, which has put Newcastle in a state of bother.

The Magpies, after all, had always expected that there could come a time when they have to bid farewell to Guimaraes. But the club will ensure that time does not come in the near future.
