When Evan Ndicka joined AS Roma on a free transfer in 2023, it appeared to be quite the steal as the defender was one of the top performers at his previous club, Eintracht Frankfurt.

Formerly of AJ Auxerre, Ndicka had built a reputation at Frankfurt due to his versatility and imposing presence at the back. He has continued his momentum at Roma, becoming an ever-present figure in the club’s backline.

Real Madrid eye move for Ndicka

Now, with just the January transfer window just around the corner, Ndicka has found himself on the radar of none other than Real Madrid.

According to French journalist Abdellah Boulma, Real Madrid are attracted to the prospect of signing Ndicka, as part of the club’s plans to reinforce their ranks in defence.

Although it is not mentioned whether or not Los Blancos are eyeing a January move for Ndicka, it appears the club are closely monitoring his progress at AS Roma.

A centre-back by trade, Ndicka could be a handy signing for Real Madrid due to the physicality and athleticism he offers to the table.

The Ivorian is also notorious for his ability to find the back of the net. During his time at Eintracht, he had scored as many as 12 goals in 183 matches, 10 of which came in the Bundesliga.

Securing the services of Ndicka, however, will be far from easy. The player has a contract at AS Roma until 2028 and the Giallorossi won’t be too keen on letting him leave on a cut-price deal.

Thankfully, Real Madrid have no shortage of alternatives in the market. The club have been linked with various other centre-backs across Europe, including Jonathan Tah, Aymeric Laporte and Castello Lukeba among others.

The Spanish giants are expected to closely monitor Laporte and Pedro Porro, in particular, as we enter the third international break of the season.
