Despite Zinédine Zidane’s public declarations, Real Madrid may yet make a January signing.

They have been credited with interest in Athletic Club’s Spain international goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for some time now.

And while certain reports have suggested Madrid will wait until the summer for any move, the latest from the Basque Country suggests otherwise.

Regional radio station ETB claimed on Monday that Real Madrid officials have told their counterparts at Athletic that they plan to sign Kepa this month.

And Marca insist that Real Madrid are working to sign a goalkeeper to replace Keylor Navas.

Kepa is believed to have a release clause in the region of €20m and Madrid would be able to procure the 23-year-old’s services if they offer more than that.

The club could do with a morale boost, which may motivate them to act sooner rather than later.
