In a recent report, Marca claimed that Real Madrid have identified LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro this summer. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are ready to step up their pursuit of the French centre-back later this year.

Yoro’s Impressive Rise In Ligue 1

Yoro is having a decent campaign at the French club as he has put in a series of solid displays for them on the defensive third of the pitch. The 18-year-old has scored three goals in 36 appearances for Lille this season, netting three goals in all competitions.

The French defensive ace has been a reliable performer at the back based on his average of 1.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 3.0 clearances per game in Ligue 1. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from inside his half after making 92.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of French football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, Real Madrid could potentially sign him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.

Is Yoro A Good Option For Real Madrid?

Yoro is a tough-tackling defender who can read the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when the opposition are on the front foot.

The French defensive ace can use his robust 1.90m frame to win his fair share of 50-50 aerial duels. He is also proficient at playing his way out from the back when he is playing with confidence on the field.

We can expect Yoro to add more bite and steel to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at the Madrid club next season.

At 18, Yoro has the potential to be a generational talent which makes him an excellent option for Los Blancos to pursue in the long run. However, Ancelotti would have to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the youngster. Still, there is no denying that Yoro would be a welcome addition to Real Madrid‘s squad in the summer transfer window.
