In a recent report, journalist Tomas Gonzalez-Martin mentioned that Real Madrid have identified Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski as a target. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move for the Polish centre-forward during this summer transfer window after missing out on Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe.

Lewandowski’s Outstanding Numbers In German Football This Season

Lewandowski has enjoyed another excellent season at the Allianz Arena as he has produced several match-winning displays as the spearhead of Bayern’s attack. The 33-year-old has banged in 50 goals and grabbed seven assists in 46 matches for the German outfit during this campaign across all fronts.

The experienced Poland international deserves a lot of credit for averaging 4.7 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has even been tidy with his link-up play in the final third after completing 77.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

What Will Lewandowski Add To Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti’s Team?

Lewandowski excels at creating some space for himself to get some shots in on-target. He remains a deadly finisher in front of the opposition goal and can even create a few meaningful openings for his teammates on the attacking end of the field.

The 129-time Poland international can make some intelligent runs with the ball at his feet. Standing at 1.85m, Lewandowski is a strong presence in the air and has got the winning mentality to be a real success story at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. However, at 33, he won’t be a long-term signing for Los Blancos to consider this summer.

Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting Lewandowski as he will no doubt add plenty of goals to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti‘s attack. If the Madrid giants decide to keep Karim Benzema, they could potentially have one of the most accomplished strikeforce in European football.

Lewandowski could help Los Blancos maintain their stranglehold in Spanish football and even win the UEFA Champions League trophy in the coming seasons. Thus, it makes sense for Ancelotti to move in for the Polish marksman when the transfer window reopens later this summer.
