According to recent reports from the Italian outlet Tuttosport, Real Madrid are said to be weighing the possibility of bringing in Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso as a replacement for the injured Dani Carvajal during the January transfer window.

While many sources over the past few days have suggested that Real Madrid are not actively pursuing a right-back in the winter market, the reports coming out of Italy paint a different picture.

According to the outlet, the 24-year-old Cambiaso, who plays for Juventus, has caught the eye of the Spanish giants due to his versatility. He can operate on both flanks, which adds to his appeal.

Alexander-Arnold’s replacement?

Italian sources indicate that Real Madrid view him as their backup plan, should they fail to secure their primary target, Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Cambiaso is seen as a solid alternative, offering quality and flexibility in defence, a trait that could prove crucial as the club deals with Carvajal’s absence.

However, Juventus appear to have no desire to part ways with one of their key players. The Italian club have been firm in their stance, making it clear that he is an important figure in their squad.

A long contract with Juventus

Furthermore, the player himself has strong ties to the Turin-based club, with ambitions to become the team’s captain in the future. His contract with Juventus runs until 2029, a deal that was recently extended in May of this year.

As part of that extension, Cambiaso received a salary increase, raising his annual earnings from €1 million to €2.2 million.

With Cambiaso committed to Juventus for the long term and focused on his personal goals, it seems unlikely that he will make a move to Madrid anytime soon.

Nevertheless, Real Madrid’s interest remains a point of discussion, particularly if their attempts to sign other top-tier players falter. Cambiaso’s future will undoubtedly be one to watch as the January window approaches.
