Following a win over Bayern Munich, Real Madrid will have some important decisions to make as they approach the June 1 Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.
The future of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, in particular, has become a hot topic in the Spanish capital, with both midfielders’ contracts expiring at the end of the season.
A recent report from MARCA has offered a fresh update on the future of these two veteran midfielders, suggesting that a final decision could be made in the coming few days.
It appears Florentino Perez wants to hold an immediate meeting with both Kroos and Modric to discuss the possibility of a prolonged spell at Santiago Bernabeu.
Carlo Ancelotti, for his part, wants both Kroos and Modric to stay at Real Madrid. It appears the two veteran midfielders offer the Italian tactician a healthy state of mind, particularly because of their vast experience at the highest level of football.

During the earlier parts of the campaign, Modric looked almost destined to leave Real Madrid after struggling to establish himself as a first-team regular.
But a lot has changed since, with Modric now becoming a crucial cog in the Real Madrid midfield. It seems the player himself feels important in the Real Madrid squad, which is why he could entertain the idea of continuing for another year.
Kroos’ performances, meanwhile, have witnessed gradual improvement and the German is arguably the most important player in the Real Madrid midfield right now.
At the age of 34, Kroos has not shown any signs of slowing down either, possessing similar straits that had made him a star for Real Madrid in the past.
Keeping these things in mind, it won’t be surprising to see Kroos and Modric continue for another year at the Bernabeu.
