Real Madrid hero Guti: Benzema needs striker cover; Barcelona have improved

Real Madrid hero Guti is unconvinced by their summer market work.

He also took aim at the current situation at Barcelona.

"I think Real Madrid are as good as last year, though it's true that they haven't strengthened their squad much," Guti said, speaking with DAZN.

"Maybe they do need another striker, as they also lacked one last year.

"Any absence of Karim Benzema can be terminal for Real Madrid and not having a replacement limits their ability to score goals."

On Barcelona's past and current situation, the former footballer commented on the importance of the signings being brought in by the board.

"We saw a lacklustre Barcelona last year and I think this is going to give much more value to LaLiga," he said.

"Everything that reinforces big teams, and teams that are important in Spain like Barcelona, is good for the league."
