Andriy Lunin will be at Euro 2024 with Ukraine this summer, but as it turns out, he will be the only Real Madrid goalkeeper attending the major tournament in Germany. Despite being one of the best stoppers in the world, Thibaut Courtois will not be there.

Courtois has had a high-profile falling out with Belgium head coach Domenico Tedesco over the last 12 months, and as a result, he was not been included in The Red Devils’ squad for the European Championship. Koen Casteels, Matz Sels and Thomas Kaminski have been called up, leaving no place for Courtois.

There is representation from La Liga, despite Courtois’ snub. Atletico Madrid duo Arthur Vermeeren and Axel Witsel are included, despite the latter having been retired up until this point – Sevilla’s Dode Lukebakio has also been called up.

Courtois would have been fit for the tournament, despite two serious knee injuries in the last nine months. He is expected to play in the Champions League final, although there’s no doubt that Real Madrid will appreciate their number one having the summer off.
