Real Madrid are going head-to-head with Manchester United for Villarreal defender Pau Torres.
The Spain international is a target for both European giants ahead of the summer market.
El Larguero says Real Madrid see Torres as a replacement for skipper Sergio Ramos, should the veteran fail to settle on a new contract.
Torres' contract carries a €50m buyout clause, which will jump to €65m in the final two weeks of the summer market.
United are prepared to do a cash deal with Villarreal for Torres, while Real are keen to set up a player exchange.
Dani Ceballos, on-loan with Arsenal, has been mentioned as a swap candidate, along with Reinier Jesus, currently with Borussia Dortmund.
