With Kevin Trapp joining Eintracht Frankfurt this summer, Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly still hoping to sign a new goalkeeper before the transfer window closes next week.
A recent report from ESPN claimed the French champions are ambitiously targeting Real Madrid shot-stopper Keylor Navas, while Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport had previously reported a swoop for AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma could be on the cards.
But if PSG do go for Navas, Real Madrid will also need to sign somebody to provide back-up for Thibaut Courtois.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Los Blancos are braced for Navas’s departure and have drawn up a six-man shortlist of potential replacements.
Top of the list is said to be AC Milan’s Pepe Reina, who previously played for Barcelona early in his career and was linked with a return to old club Liverpool earlier this summer.
Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero is reportedly another option, as is Eibar’s Asier Riesgo, who appeared set to join Manchester City before the English transfer window closed.
And the final three names on the list are Roma’s Antonio Mirante, Monaco’s Danijel Subasic and Everton’s Maarten Stekelenburg.
None of the veteran goalkeepers mentioned would be a like-for-like replacement for Navas in terms of quality but if the Costa Rican does leave this late in the window, Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane might be forced to take whatever he can get.
