With Marcelo’s future up in the air and Álvaro Odriozola failing to set the world on fire, Real Madrid are on the hunt for a new left-back this summer.

A number of candidates have been mentioned from all over Europe, but a story in Goal has claimed that Zinedine Zidane wants Ferland Mendy.

The Lyon defender has emerged as one of the best defenders around this term, playing 43 times in all competitions and having a direct hand in six goals.

And those performances have reportedly earned admiring glances from the French tactician with Zidane ear-marking Mendy as one of his priorities during the off-season.

Lyon are thought to be willing to listen to offers, but will only accept bids of over €70m.

Los Blancos are set for a major squad overhaul this summer, apparently willing to spend north of €300m on new arrivals.
