RMC Sport report that Real Madrid have in recent days accelerated conversations with 17-year-old Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga about a possible summer transfer.

An offer is expected to be made in the coming weeks by Los Blancos to the Ligue 1 player, despite the fact that the Brittany side has no intention of allowing the teenager to depart this summer.

A source close to the Spanish club had the following to say on the matter: “He is the future midfield star in European football. We want him to keep him at the club for 10 years. He is our priority. It is better to buy him this summer rather than next season, when he will have played in the Champions’ League and will be worth twice as much.”

Real Madrid have been watching him closely for many months and talks in recent weeks have intensified between the player’s entourage and the Spanish giants. Zinedine Zidane is a big fan of the player and the entire coaching staff.

However, Rennes don’t want to let him go this summer – a source close to the French club has told the outlet that Camavinga has no gentlemen’s agreement with the club to allow him to leave this summer and that the club owners, the Pinault family, feel that the talent must stay to discover the Champions’ League at the Roazhon Park next season before flying off.

Would an XXL offer worth between €60m to €70m convince the Brittany side otherwise? At the club, sources say that Pinault, who is one of the richest Frenchmen in the world, doesn’t care about the size of the offer. We will soon see if that translates through to his club’s board…
