The 2024-25 La Liga race has proven to be quite a roller coaster of an affair, as the three top teams, Barcelona Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid are engaged in a very tight competition with very little to separate them.

The two Madrid teams are still the first two teams in the league table, but this can change tomorrow as they both dropped points last night, and the Blaugranes are yet to play their game against Rayo Vallecano for this matchday.

However, in addition to the league title race, the El Clasico rivals are engaged in a very tight competition for the Pichichi.

Currently, the Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is leading the goalscoring chart in La Liga, but as Mundo Deportivo has noted, the Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe continues to put pressure on him. With his strike in last night’s game against Osasuna, the Frenchman has taken his tally to 17 goals, only 2 less than the Pole’s 19.

After arriving at the Merengue club last summer, Mbappe is enjoying his best run of form. The 2018 World Cup winner has scored 7 goals in his last 5 La Liga games, which has allowed him to cut the lead that the Barcelona superstar had generated over him in the Pichichi race earlier in the season.

However, the Pole himself is on a good scoring run, having scored in the last three consecutive games, and still having a game in hand over the French forward.

Thus, the race between the two rivals is expected to remain heated till the end of the season. Mbappe and Lewandowski will remain the main competitors for this Pichichi title, as the third-placed Raphinha and Budimir have only 13 goals to their names, while Sancet has 11. Kike Garcia and Ayoze Perez trail him with 10 goals each.
