In a recent report, Defensa Central claimed that Real Madrid forward Borja Mayoral is gathering interest from Italy with AC Monza eager to recruit him this summer. It is believed that the Italian side are eyeing a move to sign the Spaniard from Los Blancos in this off-season.

Mayoral’s Decent Loan Spell At Getafe Last Season

Mayoral had a fruitful six-month loan spell at Getafe recently after he managed to impress by producing a few eye-catching performances as the focal point of their attack. The 25-year-old featured in 18 matches for the Spanish side last season, netting six goals and picking up one assist across various competitions.

However, the Spanish striker struggled to be consistent with his performances up top based on his average of 0.9 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He also needs to take care of the ball a bit better in the final third as he completed 73.5% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).

Should Real Madrid Cut Mayoral Loose This Summer?

Mayoral can test the opposition keeper with a few good strikes at goal. The Spanish frontman can be a good finisher in front of the opponent’s goal when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the field. The gifted attacker is primarily a central striker but can also play as a left-sided wide player if needed. However, he has to find a way to improve his link-up play in the attacking third of the field.

At 25, Mayoral has to find a way to secure regular first-team football if he wants to establish himself as a top performer in Europe. Thus, it makes sense for the Parla-born talent to part ways with Los Blancos before the end of this transfer window.

Mayoral is currently surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeau Stadium as he has fallen behind Karim Benzema, Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz in Real Madrid‘s pecking order. Hence, it is only fair to the striker if Carlo Ancelotti decides to cut him loose permanently in this off-season.
