The Sun has recently reported that Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard has admitted that he is extremely frustrated in the current situation with him being left out to warm the bench. It is understood that the Belgian forward’s contract lasts until 2024 but he remains in a delicate situation at Santiago Bernabeu as he has only started in one of Los Balcos’ six La Liga matches this season. This has him worried about his form with just two months remaining for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Hazard’s Numbers With Real Madrid Last Season

The 31-year-old had just appeared in 21 games last season, providing only one assist. It was a disappointing campaign for Hazard where Los Blancos managed to win the La Liga title and the Champions League silverware.

The Belgian star had failed to perform and lacked productivity in the final third as he averaged 0.7 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game in La Liga. However, he managed to distribute the ball exceptionally well, making 90.2% of his attempted passes in Spanish top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Should Hazard Chose To Move Away From Santiago Bernabeu?

Even though he has a contract until 2024, the Belgium international would only be taking a spot at the bench and making an impact in the latter half with Vinicius Junior climbing up the pecking order to earn a regular spot in the left-wing position. The World Cup is around the corner and the ex-Chelsea star has not been provided with enough game time which makes it prevalent that Carlo Ancelotti does not have long-term plans for the Belgian winger.

Despite Hazard trying to climb his way up the pecking order and returning to form, it seems highly unlikely for him to earn back a regular spot in the playing XI. Thus, he should be assessing his options to move out in the next transfer window if he wishes to play at a high level and maintain his form over the coming years.

It would be wise of him to make his exit before his contract expires which could benefit Los Blancos as they could recoup a part of the sum they have invested in him while he could also negotiate better terms with any other club interested in him. However, if he performs exceptionally well in the Winter World Cup then that would certainly come to his benefit in the near future.
