In a recent report, Defensa Central has claimed that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White this summer. It is understood that Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is looking to strengthen his squad and has identified the English centre-back as a potential target during this summer transfer window (via Defensa Central).

White’s Dominant Season In English Football

It was another solid season for White at the American Express Community Stadium as he established himself as a commanding figure at the heart of Graham Potter’s defence. The 23-year-old made 39 appearances for the Seagulls in the previous campaign across various competitions.

The English sensation was a top performer on the defensive end of the pitch after he averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 1.4 clearances per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He even distributed the ball with conviction as evidenced by his pass success rate of 83.2% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

White’s current deal with the Seagulls runs out in the summer of 2024, so it would take a big-money move for Los Blancos to stand a chance of securing his signature in this off-season. However, if the Madrid giants can pull it off, the English centre-back will be a great signing for them as he would serve as a decent long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Should Los Blancos Get White On Board This Summer?

White can use his strong 1.89m frame to dominate the opposition in the air. He can even time his challenges well to earn possession back on the defensive end of the field. The English sensation has got good defensive awareness that allows him to pull off some crucial clearances for his team. He is proficient at playing his way out from the back, so he will be a brilliant fit for Real Madrid’s style of play at the Bernabeu.

White will add a lot of quality to Ancelotti’s defensive department and could offer some healthy competition for the likes of Nacho and Eder Militao at the Spanish capital in the coming seasons. An experienced head coach like Ancelotti could also get the best out of the English talent, so the Italian tactician should think about getting the Brighton star on board during this summer transfer period.

The Poole-born centre-half’s best years are ahead of him, so the Spanish outfit can expect to make the most of his services in the years to come once he hits the peak stage of his playing career. Hence, Ancelotti should consider making a move to lure White to Spanish football ahead of the new season.
