According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid want to sign talented Spanish right-back Pedro Porro from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
Porro only signed for Tottenham in January. He has had a mixed start to life in England. It’s clear that the club sees him as a long-term solution at right-back, and his performances since joining have only reinforced that belief.
Despite taking some time to settle in, Porro has quickly become a key player for Tottenham. He has shown his attacking abilities, contributing two goals and two assists in just 14 appearances for the club.
Real Madrid’s supposed interest in Porro is not surprising. The Spanish club is always on the lookout for top-quality players, and Porro has certainly shown that he has the potential to become one of the best right-backs in Europe.
Tottenham are a club that prides itself on building for the future. The idea of selling a quality player like Porro after just signing him does not fit with the club’s long-term vision. Even if a new manager comes in and has different preferences for his squad, it’s highly unlikely that the club would be willing to part with Porro so quickly.
Furthermore, Tottenham is in desperate need of stability at right-back. The club has struggled to find a consistent presence in that position for several seasons, and it is only now that they seem to have not one but two genuine starters.

Tottenham needs to build a team that can compete at the highest level. To do that, they need to hold on to their best players and continue to add quality to the squad. Porro has shown that he has the potential to be a top player for the club.
Although the prospect of returning to one of the biggest teams in his home league could be appealing for Porro, he is unlikely to want to leave Tottenham just months after joining them in January.
Despite some poor performances, Porro (23) has shown enough for us to know what he is capable of. Let’s hope we keep hold of him because Real Madrid could really be on the lookout for a long-term successor for 31-year-old Daniel Carvajal.
