Real Madrid are on the brink of rewriting their history books once again, as they prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final.
The match offers more than just a shot at a place in the final as it presents Los Blancos with the opportunity to equal one of their all-time best records for most wins in a single season.
After already setting a new record for the most matches played in a season (67), Real Madrid now stand just one win away from matching their historic tally of 46 victories in a single campaign, achieved during the 2011–12 and 2013–14 seasons.
This season has been one of extremes for Real Madrid. Despite a rocky domestic and European campaign that ended without a major title and saw the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti, the club has found a second wind under new boss Xabi Alonso.
Since taking over, Alonso has guided Madrid to four wins and one draw in five Club World Cup fixtures, giving fans fresh hope and restoring pride.

Madrid’s current win record stands at 45 wins in 67 matches (a win rate of 67.1%). A victory over PSG would bring that total to 46, equalling the 2011–12 and 2013–14 campaigns.
In those seasons, Madrid achieved remarkable win rates of 79.3% (46 wins in 58 matches) and 76.7% (46 wins in 60 matches), respectively.
While the win percentage this season is lower, the sheer volume of matches and the endurance shown make this year’s tally particularly impressive.
Should Real Madrid defeat PSG and go on to win the final on July 13, they will not only set a new all-time high in total wins but also cement a turnaround story that highlights the early success of Xabi Alonso’s managerial reign.
