Manchester United are expected to entertain lucrative offers for Diogo Dalot, who is reported to be on Real Madrid’s radar.
Ruben Amorim has only managed five United fixtures so far and he already has a lot on his plate. The Red Devils have had a mixed start to the Amorim era and back-to-back defeats have led to question marks over his decision making.
Sporting director Dan Ashworth’s abrupt exit has further complicated his task, as it remains unclear what positions United plan to strengthen and who will be shown the exit door in the upcoming transfer windows.
According to GIVEMESPORT, Amorim had “made it clear to Dan Ashworth, Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada he wants time to judge his current squad.”
However, amid Real’s interest in Dalot’s services, the former Sporting boss may not get a say in his full-back’s future at the club.
It is understood that Los Blancos are exploring the market for a new right-back to replace veteran Dani Carvajal in 2025, and Dalot is one of the options they are considering. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Pedro Porro, Juanlu, and Jeremie Frimpong have also been linked with the Spanish giants.
GMS add that Real have been following the United star since January 2024, and have already initiated “exploratory contact”.
The 25-year-old has been one of United’s most consistent performers over the past few seasons and his versatility has proven to be very crucial amid injury crisis at left-back.
With Luke Shaw sidelined, Amorim has preferred to use Dalot as the left wing-back in his early days at the helm.
Further, the Portugal international only recently extended his United contract, which now runs until 2028, leaving the Mancunians in a very strong negotiating position. Dalot isn’t also actively looking to depart Old Trafford.
Interestingly, it is claimed that United “sources insist Dalot is not for sale, but those close to Real believe an offer in the region of £45 million might change their mind, even if Amorim is reluctant to lose the Portugal international.”
Real’s search for a new right-back has intensified following Carvajal’s injury. Accordingly, Dalot’s surprise exit can’t be ruled out.
