Vinicius Jr. is one of the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or this year after an excellent 2023/24 campaign that saw him win the UEFA Champions League.

But before the Ballon d’Or gala starts later this month, Vinicius could be set for other individual accolades, including the prestigious Samba Gold award.

Vinicius, Rodrygo favourite to win Samba Gold

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid stars Vinicius and Rodrygo are among the 10 players favourite to win the Samba Gold award this year.

Samba Gold is a prestigious award given to the best player in Brazil. It is given by the Brazilian media outlet Samba Foot every year.

Vinicius had won this prestigious trophy last year, breaking Neymar’s streak of three consecutive wins.

He is likely to be the favourite this time around, despite a relatively muted start to the new season, which many believe could be a byproduct of Saudi Arabia’s lucrative offer.

Rodrygo, meanwhile, is a contender as well, though he is not likely to be the favourite.

Endrick in contention to win U20 category

The Samba Gold Award is given to three different categories – Men’s, Women’s and Under-20s.

While Vinicius and Rodrygo are in contention to win the Men’s award, Endrick could bag the Under-20 category.

The Real Madrid starlet, in fact, might be the undisputed favourite, having performed brilliantly during his time at Palmeiras while also enjoying a solid start to his life at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The youngster, though, will be aiming to become a more prominent figure in Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team plans going forward, having yet to start in a single game so far.
