David Alaba has been one of Real Madrid’s best signings in recent years. From the day he arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu, he has taken charge of the team’s defensive line and led from the front.

In just over a year, he has become an irreplaceable part of the manager’s plans and offers great versatility with the ability to play both as a left-back and centre-back.

The defender is currently on international duty with his national team and is said to have suffered a setback during his camp.

According to reports from Sky Sports Austria, the manager of the Austrian team, Ralf Rangnick, has confirmed that Alaba is suffering from a back problem. He will not be a part of his country’s game against Croatia on Sunday owing to the same.

However, his injury is not serious, reports MARCA, which could mean that the versatile defender could be available for Real Madrid’s next game after the international break.

This term, Alaba has started seven of the team’s eight games in defence. During that period he has already scored one goal and provided two assists.

His only goal of the season in La Liga was a sensational free-kick from distance that secured all three points for his team against Almeria.

Needless to say, he will be a key element in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup going ahead in the season and the manager will look to have him back fit when club football restarts. If fully fit, he will be expected to start when Real Madrid take on Osasuna in ten days.
