Real Madrid retained their position at the top of the league table following a 2-0 win over Granada on Saturday.
It was a comfortable win for Los Blancos, with Toni Kroos, in particular, producing a solid performance on the night, which even led to praise from goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.
Nevertheless, not everything was positive for Real Madrid, as key player Dani Carvajal picked up an injury.
Carvajal picked up a leg calf injury during the game against Granada. He could only play the first half and was replaced by Lucas Vazquez during the half-time break.
Carvajal’s injury comes just before the upcoming game against Real Betis and according to Melchor Ruiz, the right-back is a major doubt for the clash.
As things stand, Carvajal has discomfort in his left soleus. He will undergo tests on Monday, which will determine the extent of the defender’s injury.

Even if Carvajal’s injury turns out to be a minor one, Real Madrid are unlikely to take any risks given the player’s importance in the squad.
Therefore, the Spaniard looks set to miss out on the Real Betis clash one way or another, thus forcing Carlo Ancelotti to look for an alternative.
At the time, Lucas Vazquez appears to be the most viable option for Ancelotti, as he looks to replace Carvajal at right-back.
Vazquez is not a bad option to have as he can offer width going forward and is able to provide crosses into the box. He also has a lot of experience playing in that position.
However, Carvajal’s injury is another reminder for Real Madrid that the club must get reinforcements in the fullback position this January if they are to complete the season unscathed.
