Real Madrid have dealt with a storm of injuries during the season, with the most casualties occurring in the defensive line.

However, amidst the injury crisis, Antonio Rudiger has remained a constant figure of assurance and has produced some incredible displays in Real Madrid’s final stretch of the season.

So much so, that the club considers the 31-year-old untouchable ahead of the summer transfer window.

Rudiger shows his gratitude

Antonio Rudiger was named Real Madrid’s Player of the Month for April. He received this award for his dominant displays last month, notably converting the decisive penalty at the Etihad Stadium.

Rudiger expressed gratefulness upon receiving the award and claims that he is eager to conclude Real Madrid’s dominant season on a high note.

“I am very happy. It shows that we have had a great season and also on a personal level it shows that the fans accept me and value me. That is important.

I feel good. and with confidence in the team. We have had a great season and we want to finish on top,” he said via the official Real Madrid website.

His best moment from April

Real Madrid’s prospects in the Champions League looked bleak when they locked horns with reigning champions Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the competition.

But nullifying their major attacking threats and eventually taking the game to a penalty shootout, Rudiger turned out to be one of Madrid’s heroes.

In addition to pocketing Erling Haaland, he scored the winning penalty to secure qualification to the next round.

Opening up about his favourite moment from April, Rudiger confessed the penalty against City takes the cake.

“If I could choose a moment in April it would be the penalty against City because no one expected me to take the last one.

“The coach believed in me and I am happy to help the team. It is my job and I am always looking forward to doing it,” the German centre-back acknowledged.
