Real Madrid have just two major priorities during the upcoming summer transfer window, and one of them includes completing the signing of Kylian Mbappe, who is set to leave PSG on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Apart from him, Madrid also want to sign Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich, who is not ready to extend his contract beyond 2025 without a huge salary increment.

Madrid have already agreed personal terms with the Canadian, and seem ready to pay over €20 million annually to him. However, seeing eye-to-eye with Bayern will be much more difficult.

It does seem like Madrid may have a way in through a potential swap deal, though.

Bayern eyeing Mendy

According to a report published by L’Equipe, Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on Real Madrid’s Ferland Mendy. They are interested in signing him if Davies leaves this summer, giving rise to a potential swap deal.

Both Davies and Mendy will be in the last year of their contracts by the time the summer transfer window kicks off, which will certainly panic both teams to an extent.

However, while Davies seems ready to leave Bavaria in search of a new adventure, Mendy seems set in the Spanish capital for the time being.

He also has the backing of Carlo Ancelotti, who called him the ‘best left-back in the world’, even though the club seem ready to offload him due to his constant injury problems.

Manchester United, Newcastle also interested

Bayern are not the only top team interested in signing Mendy this summer, with reports suggesting that Manchester United and Newcastle United are also keeping tabs on the player and could look to sign him this summer on a discounted price.

While Mendy seems open to the idea of playing for Man United, Newcastle does not appeal him all that much, and could be ruled out as an option.

Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal have also inquired about the player, but do not hold as concrete of an interest as Bayern, United, and Newcastle.
