Saturday’s 3-0 win over Cadiz confirmed Real Madrid’s 36th La Liga title and set them on course for several other achievements.

With four matches still to be played, if Carlo Ancelotti’s team manages to keep two more clean sheets, they will set a clean sheet record in their history in La Liga.

In the 34 matches that Real Madrid have played this season, they have won 27 matches while keeping a clean sheet on 18 occasions.

While the record for most clean sheets in a single season is shared by Francisco Liano and Marc-Andre ter Stegen (26), Real Madrid have never managed to cross the 20-number mark.

However, if the team from the Spanish capital manages to keep just two more clean sheets in their next four matches, they will achieve a personal milestone.

Real Madrid have another record in sight

Real Madrid have had an impressive run in this La Liga season, losing just one game so far against Atletico de Madrid at the Metropolitano.

The team is now aiming to replicate their success from the 1988/89 season when they secured the league title with just one loss throughout the entire competition.

That single defeat was against Celta Vigo, but Real Madrid still clinched the championship two matches before the end of the season by defeating Espanyol 3-0.

Under coach Leo Beenhakker, the team also secured a Copa del Rey victory, marking their fourth consecutive league title.

Carlo Ancelotti’s current Real Madrid squad has four matches remaining to match the 1988/89 season’s record and complete the league with only one loss and their upcoming opponents in this final stretch are Granada, Alaves, Villarreal, and Betis.

Considering the list of opponents, it is fair to say Real Madrid have luck on their side. Not only can they set a clean-sheet record, but can also finish the season with a solitary defeat.
