Considering how poorly Almeria’s season went, Sergio Arribas’ nine goals and four assists in 22 starts was a remarkable achievement – even more so when considering it was his first season in professional football.
Because of his exploits, Arribas has attracted significant interest ahead of the summer transfer window. Sevilla are one of the leading candidates, although Diario AS say that the 22-year-old could stay with Almeria in the Segunda. At this stage, nothing has been ruled out in regards to his future.
Arribas is prepared to continue with Almeria if he is offered a “great sporting project”, which would likely include him being a regular starter – something he was not in 2023-24. That would be a blow for any teams that plan to make a move for him in the summer.
Among those teams that would be disappointed are Real Madrid, who have a 50% sell-on for Arribas, as part of the deal with Almeria last summer. If he continues at the Power Horse Stadium, they would miss out on additional funds being brought in – not that they necessarily need the money.
