In a recent print edition, Sport mentioned that Real Madrid could be tempted to move in for Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling this summer. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos ‘meet all the conditions’ to lure the English wide player to the Spanish capital during this summer transfer window.

Sterling’s Decent Numbers At The Etihad Stadium Last Season

Sterling had a productive campaign with Man City recently as he was responsible for putting in a lot of influential performances for them in the attacking end of the pitch. The England international netted 17 goals and picked up nine assists in 47 matches for the Mancunian giants last season across various competitions.

The 27-year-old continued to prove his worth as a key asset in Pep Guardiola’s frontline by averaging 1.9 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He even took care of the ball well in the opponent’s half after making 85.4% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

Real Madrid Could Be Tempted To Move In For Sterling: Good Move For Carlo Ancelotti?

Sterling can use his quickness to make a few driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He loves to drive with the ball to the byline and can orchestrate some meaningful opportunities for his teammates to score.

The English sensation has transformed himself into a capable finisher in the final third and can cause a lot of headaches for the opposition centre-halves. He normally plays as a left-sided wide player but is versatile enough to fill in as a right-winger or even function as a forward down the middle if needed.

Real Madrid should focus on engineering a move to bring Sterling to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium ahead of the new season. He is good enough to play on the right side of Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti’s attack every week in the upcoming La Liga campaign.

At 27, Sterling is playing at his prime and would add more pace and goals to Ancelotti’s frontline. He could even help the Madrid giants challenge for every more major trophies over the next few years.
