A recent report from AS has offered an update on the future of Marco Asensio. The Real Madrid attacker has found himself in a precarious situation as he has not been included in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans for the new season.

Once regarded as one of the most talented players in the Real Madrid squad, Asensio’s career has taken a massive dip over the past couple of years.

Injuries and a lack of form have played a key role in stifling his progress. The further ascension of attackers such as Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior has not helped either, leading to the Spaniard falling behind in the pecking order.

As a matter of fact, Asensio has not even featured in a single minute in Real Madrid’s two matches so far. It is widely considered that the attacker has been asked to find a new club, with Los Blancos ready to listen to offers.

However, according to the report, Asensio does not have a single offer on his plate at the moment. It appears potential suitors are apprehensive about signing the playmaker due to his injury issues, coupled with a lack of form and a decently-high salary.

Not to mention, the Real Madrid superstar is also likely to attract a hefty wage packet. As such, it is becoming seemingly difficult for other clubs to afford him in the summer.

With just two weeks remaining until the new season gets underway, there is a real possibility that Asensio may end up remaining at Real Madrid, playing merely as a backup role in the side.

It could be devastating for the player, who was harbouring hopes of being included in the Spanish side for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, there is still some time left and it will not be surprising to see the Spaniard leaving Santiago Bernabeu by the end of the month.
