Real Madrid are weighing up a move for Edinson Cavani as they figure out how to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Urguayan scored 40 goals in all competitions last season, just four fewer than Ronaldo managed for Madrid.

According to Diario AS, Madrid are now considering an approach and Cavani is open to the idea.

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has been strongly linked with a move to the Bernabéu as Madrid search for a Ronaldo replacement.

Despite the Belgian’s obvious quality, he is not a prolific goalscorer and one would have to be bought to play alongside him if the Spanish giants did go for the Belgian.

Real Madrid officials are said to be confident that PSG, who are determined to keep Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, would not refuse to sell Cavani but he would be expensive: the report mentions a potential €100m transfer fee.

Radio Marca have also linked Madrid with a move for the 31-year-old but they say around €60m should be enough to tempt PSG into a sale.
