Real Madrid confirm Marco Asensio will leave the club

Real Madrid have announced that Marco Asensio will leave the club at the expiration of his current contract.

This will bring an end to Asensio’s nine-year spell at the Santiago Bernabéu with speculation linking him to a move to PSG in recent weeks.

The Athletic reported on Saturday that head coach Carlo Ancelotti did try to convince the Spaniard to remain at the club.

Asensio moved to Real from Mallorca as a teenager in 2014, with the midfielder going on to make nearly 200 appearances for Los Blancos and scoring 37 goals.

He leaves the Spanish capital following a successful period in his career having helped win three Champions Leagues, three LaLiga titles and one Copa del Rey.
