Karim Benzema is set to leave Real Madrid after they agreed to part ways.
The current Ballon dâOr holder joined the ranks at the Santiago BernabĂ©u in 2009, going on to win five Champions League and four LaLiga titles.
Benzema also became Los Blancosâ second all-time goal scorer during his 14-year stay in the Spanish capital, second only to former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
But amid growing speculation over the France internationalâs long-term future, Madrid announced on Sunday that he will bow out in their final LaLiga game against Athletic Club.
âReal Madrid Football Club and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to bring his brilliant and unforgettable time as a player at our club to a close,â confirmed a club statement.
âKarim Benzemaâs career at Real Madrid has been a shining example of conduct and professionalism, and he has represented the values of our club. Karim Benzema has earned the right to decide his future.
âMadridistas and all the fans all over the world alike have enjoyed his magical and unique football, which has made him one of the great icons of our club and one of the great legends of world football.
âReal Madrid is and always will be his home, and we wish him and all his family all the best in this new stage of his life.â
Benzema will receive a formal send-off from Madrid president Florentino PĂ©rez at the clubâs Valdebebas training complex on Tuesday 6 June.
The 35-year-old becomes the fourth high-profile departure from Carlo Ancelottiâs side in 24 hours following the exits of Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Mariano DĂaz.
